Well its my first post for the new year (well this was going to be posted a few days after new years, but I started procrastinating and one thing leads to another, so now I’ve posted it almost a month later...) I don’t usually make a new year resolution, but since everyone else is doing it I might as well. I’ve been reading over my blog and it seems a bit boring, so for my new years resolution I will try to include less army lists and pictures of unpainted models but more fluff (stories) and pictures of painted models!
So to start it off I will show you pictures of my harpies and a test shade

I also got a warriors box for Christmas, So this means that I only have 2 more boxes left before I have everything for my Dark elf army. I also got a compartments box to keep all my bitz in.

Its Been a While…

Well, like I said in my title, its been a while since I’ve last posted on this blog, perhaps about a year. So I had quite a bit done just after I finished posting, infact I’d finished my 500 point army. But like always I always get distracted after a good painting spree and so I stopped painting. Fortunately I have started painting again, so I finally got my chariot completed. I have pictures of the chariot as well as an army-wide shot. Note that I am using a new blog program so I don’t know how the pictures will turn out.

I plan to finish painting my 1000pt army and purchase my 2000pt army by the end of January 2010. I now have a second unit of Dark Riders ready to put together.

Progress report

Well, I haven't posted on this Blog in a while, practically forgot about it...

Anyway I haven't been very busy but I suppose I should tell you what's happened.

Anyway, I have finally got my first reaper bolt thrower, which brings my army up to 1000pts (party anyone?) I have also painted five crossbowmen, almost finished five shades and half painted five crossbowman. Ill update my painting log accordingly.

Hmmmmm, now that I've got everything fro my 1000pt army I'll have to start a new 'What to Get List'. Oh well, I'll do that later.

Looking back at this post it looks rather short and rushed...

The (Chaos) Dwarf Tavern

Well, it finally happened, my brother has been corrupted by chaos and has gone over to chaos dwarfs. He has been the chaos dwarf list on the games-workshop website and is using the Battle for Skull Pass Dwarves for chaos dwarves and the night goblins for hobgoblins.

I painted up a sample warrior with great weapon (converted from a miner) to see what the paint scheme would look like.

And yes, that is a Dark Elf shield icon on his face.

Well after a looong loooong time of not painting anything I have finally painted 25 men (15 spearmen and 10 corsairs). I have not given them their sheilds yet, nor have I based them as I will be doing that once I have finished 500pts (10 repeater crossbowman, 5 shades and a master to go!) (along with magnetising their bases so they don't fall off their movement trays).

The two most noticeable changes in this list are that I have taken out the magic and replaced it with a Hydra and a scroll caddy, I have also taken out a unit of spearman and a chariot and replaced it with Black Guard. I have also made some other changes like giving Kasumi the executioners axe, making him deadly against characters.

I was looking at my army one day and I suddenly realised that I actually had a pretty reasonable army. I added it up and found that I could actually field about 2000pts!

The list that I made wasn't a very good one and I wouldn't use it in a competitive game, but it was viable! I have also included some pictures of it to give you an Idea of what it looks like.

Some models have been 'blue tacked' because I haven't made them yet but it gives you an Idea of what it will look like. I will probably assemble them properly when I am ready to paint them.

The Dwarf Tavern

My brother wanted me to create a section on my blog dedicated to his army, the Dwarves. After lots of pestering I finally gave in and made him a section. I decided to call it the Dwarf Tavern and I will update it every once and a while just to tell you how its going.

The army is lead by a daemon slayer who is possessed by the fire spirit, his loyal group of slayers, who witnessed him being possessed have followed him everywhere and slowly other dwarves started following him until they formed a reasonably sized army. Right now they are fighting against Ulthuan to settle the grudge against the high elves.

The Slayer he will be using is this one, I think he fits as a fire possessed dwarf, don't you?

Here are some models he has painted up from Battle for Skull Pass.

Right now he has the Battle for Skull Pass Dwarves(minus a few of them) and the Dwarf army book(he got it for Christmas)

New Things on Kasumi's Fortress

I was originally going to post all this in my last post, but then decided that it was too long, so I made a separate post for it, hooray!

I haven't been painting much lately(too distracted), so to get me motivated I have added a 'Painted Model Count' This will show how many models I have painted, half painted and how many I need to paint. Beneath It I also have a list of Models that I need for 1000pts, look for these on the right side of the page.

P.S. I have made some Dark Riders out of Marauder Horseman, Cold One Knights and Normal warriors, I have also made a Dark Elf Corsair Repeater Crossbowman. I have found some shades that I like better than Mengils Manslayers (which I still might get after all), they are made out of warrir bodies and arms, High Elf archer bodies and Wood Elf heads. I will post pictures of these on this blog as soon as I find my camera (It is long overdue for a picture update).

P.P.S.After the picture update I will also be posting a revised 2000pts list, with a hydra, but less magic!(coming soon)

The first is a 500pt Border Patrol list, it is as follows

This paint scheme is a bit darker compared to my last one, mainly because the body is painted shadow grey&chaos black instead of just shadow grey.

P.S. I have also got a boxed set of five shades from Games Workshop, so now I have eight! I plan to get Mengil Manhides Manslayers(Dogs of War unit) and use them as Great weapon wielding shades. Some of the shades that I've already got will be converted so they have two hand weapons.

I played a game against my Brother, he was using the Chaos Mortals list in White dwarf issue 342(the Mordor one). I didn't do that well, infact I lost pretty badly, I think the problem was I couldn't break the chaos knights 0+ armour save, my conclusion is that I need more hammer units(units to smash into the enemy line, or flank and kill it), all I have right now are my shade with great weapons. So next game I will include a War Hydra, I will also give my assassin Rune of Khaine(+D3 attacks) instead of rending stars.

Yet another Update

Two weeks since I have got my battalion and done my last post and I have assembled: my Cold One Knight command, the two that I will be using for my chariot, 10 corsairs and I have split my warrior unit into two and I have completed one 15 strong unit. The other 10 corsairs that I got in my battalion will be used with some glade rider units that I will be getting soon to make a unit of cool looking Dark Riders

I was looking through Druchii.net (dark elf forum) and I saw these pictures, they are cheaper tahtn the normal Dark Riders and I think they look better as well!

My friend gave me a Cauldron of Blood FREE because he was given it from his friend but he didn't need need it anymore! Thanks Shane!

I think it is time I posted the list I have made for Kasumi, So I will post it in a soon in a new post

Ok, time for more Picture

Snowy, with my Cold one's paint scheme

It is done with a shadow grey basecoat, with the scales being space wolves grey with a skull white highlight. The claws and teeth are done skull white to tie in with the rest of the model and I used blood red on the tongue for contrast. I will also be using this colour scheme for my sea dragon cloaks and my hydra(if I get one).

Ok, now for my army's fluff.

For people who don't know, fluff is the background/story behind your army and it can dictate what you include in it. Some people like to create fluff for their army and some people don't. I am one of those people who like to create fluff for my army.

My Dark Elf Dreadlord (lord level character) is called Kasumi, Dreadlord Kasumi.
Kasumi's army is a garrison army that guards the Blackspine mountains (dark inhospitable mountains south of Naggaroth) from enemy invasions(mainly lizardmen) even though it is very unlikely that there is going to be an invasion along that root it still has to be patrolled.

Because my army has to navigate through mountains I am going to have small units, 15 max. First I will start with Shades, Shades live in the Blackspine mountains making them the perfect choice for my army, because of this I am going to field 2 units of them. My mainstay will be 2 units of spearmen, it will also have harpies (kept in cages and released to track down enemies) and dark riders for scouts. It will have a cold one chariot for a baggage train and that will all be backed up by some firepower(2 reaper bolt throwers, 10 crossbowman and 2 sorceresses). Last but not least it will have the ever handy assassin(in a spearmen or shade unit).

Well that's a general idea of my fluff!(while also accidentally giving away my whole army)

Paint Scheme

Now, for the general paint scheme of my army.
I have chosen the standard 'invasion force paint scheme'(you know, the purple on) as my paint scheme except for the following exceptions, Instead of having liche purple as the cloth colour I will have midnight blue(yes I know it's discontinued but I have 2 and a half pots of it), I will use gold trimming on the chain mail and to pick out the detail on the armour, I will give the armour a coat of Badab Black to make the armour darker and finally, My shields will be different to the normal warrior ones (I don't like any of the icons that you can put on them).

Hopefully I will have some pictures up soon.
